Loving Your Partner

Do you take more than receive in your relationship? Does your partner seem to be very tired and distant lately? If you feel that you are able to answer yes to either of these questions, it's time to reexamine your role in creating a healthy relationship. In some relationships there is one person that feels needy and seems to expect an excessive amount of individualized attention. The other partner initially tries to provide this only to realize that no matter what they do, they frequently because exhausted and overwhelmed by their partner's demands. At this point the relationship becomes a burden and is no longer enjoyable.
Your partner is a gift. He/she is not made to complete you, but to complement you. Do not view them as property that can be used, manipulated and abused for your personal desires. Do not allow your selfish desires to determine your interaction with a significant other because you will received karmic retribution. Above all, love your partner. One of my favorite quotes is the biblical definition of love.

"4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails..." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
