When will he/she call?

It doesn't matter whether the person is 18 or 80, the number one question I have encountered is "When will he/she call?" With the new millennium we were supposed to be free, independent, and self confident. However human nature is just as it has always been. We are still putting emphasis on the thoughts of others and allowing their actions to dictate our lives. In the matter of communication, it is always wise to call a person if you would like to talk. However allow them the opportunity to return the favor. If they are interested, they will call you for a little chat. If they do not, it should not cause alarm.
Obsessing about their reasons for not reaching out will not only cause stress in your life, but it will create a negative state of mind that is of no benefit. Some people immediately recognize this behavior with others and use it create mind games and stroke their ego. It may be selfish, but it allows them to get the attention they seek from you. Do not allow someone to have this much control over your mind.
The next time you are twiddling your fingers, thinking about the day and time when you new friend is going to call, ask yourself why you have not called? Then take a moment to decide why their phone call is important to you. Dependency and neediness do not complement any one. We all enjoy a bit of a challenge and chase when it comes to relationships. Remember, things earned are appreciated more than things freely given.
