Penny for your Thoughts

Today I removed a kitchen trash can lid. To my surprise there was a shiny brand new PENNY staring back at me. Since it sat so perfectly on top of a wonderful diaper, I knew that this was the work of my lovely neighbor. I promptly took it out and added it to my "penny jar." This interesting event reminded me of so many people who take small things for granted and forget the contribution that is made to the larger whole. I know some of you are saying right now, "Oh it was only a penny," but I grew up with the old adage "pennies make dollars." A person's attitude about the "small" things often gives a good view of how they will treat things they consider "large." For example, if you have a 2 room house that you never clean, what would change your behavior if you had a 10,00 sq ft house? If you don't attend church on a regular basis, why would you want to be a Sunday school teacher? The same thought process can be applied to throwing away one cent. If you don't see the value in a penny, how would see you the value of $1,000,000? To whom much is given much is required (Luke 12:48 THE BIBLE). We want to manifest positive things in our life, but we are not willing to do the work to get there. Until you can see the beauty in all things great and small, it will be difficult for you to have peace and joy in spite of your circumstances. The next time you get ready to dismiss something as insignificant, ask God to show you how little things can change your life.
