Somtimes as an advisor, I am faced with clients who call for confirmation and not verification. For example, Sally Sue calls and says "I haven't talked to Johnny Boy in 20 years. Does Johnny Boy love me? Will we get married?" In some cases there will be a reconciliation, but in most instances, Johnny Boy moved on to someone new and doesn't even think about Sally Sue. As an internet psychic, I am faced with a dilemma. Do I tell Sally Sue the truth and risk the infamous ONE STAR RATING or do I tell her that she and Johnny Boy are soulmates and destined for eternal love in hopes of a FIVE STAR RATING. Advisors often say "My clients want fairy tales. They will continue to call other readers until someone tells them what they want to hear. They will say that my reading is different from other psychics. Why risk telling them something that is going to upset them and lower my income?"
The first reason why we must tell our clients the truth is because they have paid for it. If I purchase apples, but receive oranges, not only will I be upset, but I will ask for my money back. No matter what the cashier thinks I need, I purchased those apples. So it is with a reading. Clients purchase the truth. Yes, there will be times when we run into people who have their happiness hanging on a thread. They think about Johnny Boy's return on a daily basis. However, those are extreme and rare incidents. In such cases, we must be delicate and refer the client to a qualified health professional in their local area.
As readers, we must realize that even though we may get that 5 STAR RATING today, 3 months from now the client may return to not only leave a ONE STAR, but a one page article about what you have said, what they think you said, and also some of what you did not say, in order to ruin your reputation as an advisor.
